PARKERSBURG - Wood County Habitat for Humanity has dedicated their first house in the Parkersburg historical district on Sunday.
The Cogar family's new home on Avery Street was filled with some good old fashioned music and well wishes from the community on Sunday during the dedication from the Wood County Habitat for Humanity.
Many volunteers helped in the building of the handicap accessible home for 8-year-old Patrick Cogar.
Ramps and low light switches were placed in the home.
Executive Director Alvin Phillips said the home has white columns and longer and lower windows to appeal to the historical districts look.
The single mother of three Sherita Cogar was overcome with emotions when saying thank you to all the helpers.
"I can't thank you enough what you guys do for people. You take time out of your lives to help make their lives easier..."
Some of Habitat for Humanity's ReStore products went into the construction of the home.
Wood County Habitat for Humanity is hoping to build and dedicate three to four more homes this year.
